Legionnaire's disease

The health and hygiene-related criteria established by Royal Decree 909/2001, article 2, inform us of areas of application of prevention and control of Legionnaire's disease through the adoption of health and hygiene-related measures for installations that can transmit legionnaire's disease.
Air-conditioning ducts are included in the areas of application, and according to article 6 and 7 of the Decree, we should bear in mind the risk of contracting an illness even when adequate preventive measures and pertinent maintenance programs are followed.

Royal Decree 1027/2007 of 20 July passed the Regulation of Thermal Equipment in Buildings (RITE), establishing that ducts should be cleaned at least once a year in public buildings and once every two years in offices.
